About The Author:

Joseph Murphy was a Divine Science minister and author. Murphy was born in Ireland, the son of a private boy’s school headmaster and raised a Roman Catholic. He studied for the priesthood and joined the Jesuits.

In his twenties, an experience with healing prayer led him to leave the Jesuits and move to the United States, where he became a pharmacist in New York (having a degree in chemistry by that time). Here he attended the Church of the Healing Christ (part of the Church of Divine Science), where Emmet Fox had become a minister in 1931.

In the mid-1940s, he moved to Los Angeles, where he met Religious Science founder Ernest Holmes and was ordained into Religious Science by Holmes in 1946, thereafter teaching at the Institute of Religious Science.

A meeting with Divine Science Association president Erwin Gregg led to him being reordained into Divine Science, and he became the minister of the Los Angeles Divine Science Church in 1949, which he built into one of the largest New Thought congregations in the country.

In the next decade, Murphy married, earned a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Southern California and started writing. After his first wife died in 1976, he remarried to a fellow Divine Science minister who was his longstanding secretary. He died in 1981.

The Bottom-Up Revolution by Rob Kall

The Bottom-up Revolution: Mastering the Emerging World of Connectivity by Rob Kall

About The Book:

Barack Obama, Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton, George W. Bush, Sir Richard Branson, Steve Jobs, and Mark Zuckerberg have all said that that change or growth happens from the bottom up. But what does it mean and how do you do “bottom-up” better and smarter? Bottom-up is a way of life and a way of doing business.

The Bottom-Up Revolution: Mastering the Emerging World of Connectivity, picks up where Malcolm Gladwell’s Tipping Point left off. It is a how-to book for businesses, leaders, organizations, activists, and individuals, cracking wide-open humankind’s biggest trend in seven million years.

By understanding the roots and implications of “bottom-up” and “top-down” you’ll be better able to tap the incredible power of this trend, as the billionaire founders of Google, Facebook, Craigslist and Twitter have done.

Editorial Reviews:

“Kall’s well-researched book integrates knowledge from philosophy to economics and ecology. He shows us how, all over the world and across many fields of endeavor, we humans are organizing new and rewarding ways of acting for the common good. His book is both idealistic and realistic and gives us a vision of what we all most need―hope for the future.”

– Mary Pipher, psychologist, and #1 New York Times best-selling author of Reviving Ophelia and Writing to Change the World

“At 350.org we’ve always wanted to work from the bottom up, and it’s good to see people assembling a theoretical framework for understanding this decentralized approach!”

– Bill McKibben, founder 350.org, author of The End of Nature

“Rob Kall’s book, The Bottom-Up Revolution, offers a compelling vision of a way of being in the world, bringing insights from different cultures and fields together while offering concrete steps to make the vision a reality. This is one of the rare books that, once you read it, will change the way you see the world and your relationships.”

(Helena Norberg-Hodge, author of Ancient Futures, Producer and co-director of the film The Economics of Happiness, Founder of Local Futures and cofounder of the International Forum on Globalization)

Stoicism: The Art of Living a Modern Stoic and Happy Life Now

Stoicism: The Art of Living a Modern Stoic and Happy Life Now, Book Review and Summary

About The Book:

It is natural for us to believe in something — anything — that could help us get closer to what we have always wanted. Even to the most logical and practical of people, believing in something usually helps. Every day, many of us wake up to seek happiness. Many of us have the same goal of acquiring more of what we already have — whether it is wealth, knowledge, relationships, or something else.

More and more people are becoming aware of the Stoic philosophy and are now enjoying every moment of their lives through the wisdom passed on by the great sages thousands of years ago. Stoicism can help you live a life to your fullest potential without worries and remorse from your past, your present in this modern society, and your future as an individual who can contribute a lot to the society.

In this book, you will learn about what it means to be Stoic and how you can integrate Stoicism into your life. There are specific tips on how to use Stoic principles to have a thriving career, good health, and harmonious relationships. You will uncover actionable tips and techniques such as the Five Why’s technique and the View from Above technique. These will enable you to cope and know your true self.

The limits of the key principles of Stoicism emanate from the contrast between the events of our lives dictated by fate, as well as the inner freedom that we can cultivate. If that sounds too New Age to you, let us put it this way: There are things that we can control, and there are things that we cannot. That is why Stoicism has its limits. However, Stoics will also allow you to manage those limits and have a magnificent life despite such limits. Followers of Stoicism believe that the majority of things are beyond our control.

This includes the movement of nature, the opinions of other people, our public image, and even the amount of money we earn. We can influence these things in one way or another by our responses, but they are external things that we cannot totally control. On the other hand, our goals, desires, judgments, opinions, are the things that we can completely control. Notice that these things are within our mind.

  • Here Is a Preview of What You Will Learn:
    The Origins of Stoicism
    Fundamental Philosophies of Stoicism
    The Cardinal Virtues of Stoicism
    Stoic Tools and Techniques
Practical Applications of Stoicism in Modern Life
    Much, much more!

The first step to achieve a healthier life ultimately starts with your mindset and your mental health. This book contains proven steps and strategies on how to live a virtuous and purposeful life by embracing the Ancient yet practical philosophy of Stoicism.

Flex: The Art and Science of Leadership in a Changing World by Jeffrey Hull PhD

Flex: The Art and Science of Leadership in a Changing World by Jeffrey Hull Ph.D. Book Review

About The Book:

From one of the world’s preeminent leadership coaches, an insightful, indispensable guide to effective leadership. For the first time, leadership expert Jeffrey Hull shares the secrets, strategies, and science underlying his, and his clients’, successes.

Interweaving real-life stories with practical tips and the latest evidence-based research, he equips readers with the insights they need to thrive in today’s world. We are in the age of the postheroic leader. Once, to move up the corporate ladder and succeed at the top, you simply had to set goals, motivate the troops, delegate to underlings, and groom a successor–probably one who looked and behaved just like you. But this white knight has become an anachronism.

Whether a person is twenty-five or fifty, if they’re leading a team now, chances are that they’re managing a kaleidoscope of people from a variety of cultures, across a range of ages, all of whom are wired together 24/7. These changing demographics and structures have led to a seismic shift in terms of the tools needed to successfully manage and grow within a company: charisma and strategic thinking abilities now matter less than qualities such as vulnerability and relatability.

Based on his popular classes with Harvard Medical School physicians and New York University business students, Hull has identified the six key elements that leaders in this new workplace need to succeed, known as F.I.E.R.C.E.: Flexibility, Intentionality, Emotional Intelligence, Realness, Collaboration, and Engagement. From start-ups to universities to Fortune 500 companies, he’s been able to help leaders across the board develop the skill sets that have advanced their careers and won them accolades.

Wheatley, bestselling author of Leadership and the New Science and Who Do We Choose to Be?

“Most leadership books teach you about leadership. But the hardest part of leadership isn’t knowing more about leadership, it’s following through on what you know. In Flex, Jeffrey Hull’s coaching expertise shines through as he offers readers the perfect recipe of clear insight, engaging storytelling, and practical application that leads us to act on what we know.”—Peter Bregman, bestselling author of Leading with Emotional Courage

An easily absorbable read for anyone from students to managers to C-suite executives.”—Nina Simons, co-founder of Bioneers, author of Nature, Culture & Spirit: A Woman Listens for Leadership

“Rather than advocating for a one-size-fits-all approach, Flex emphasizes introspection and adjustment. For any leader willing to take the journey to enhance their performance, Jeff has provided a compass to find true north.”—Jeanine Wiener-Kronish, MD, chair of anesthesia at Massachusetts General Hospital; professor at Harvard Medical School

“A must-read for leaders and coaches alike. The examples used by Dr. Hull enable the reader to experience today’s diverse and complex leadership dynamics in real time. This in turn, reinforces the ability of the learner to learn.”—Jay Morris, PhD, JD, MA, Vice President, Education & Executive Director Institute for Excellence, Yale New Haven Health

KEEP IT SIMPLE SELLING

KEEP IT SIMPLE SELLING The Comprehensive Auto Sales Training Manual By Damian Boudreaux

About The Book:

The automotive business is a gold mine; “Keep It Simple Selling” teaches how to tap into that gold with shortcuts that anyone can master and turn into massive income opportunities. The automotive business is a gold mine. Not just for some. For anyone who wants to reach massive success, it can happen. This industry is incredible.

It doesn’t matter if you sell cars or trucks or motorcycles. It doesn’t matter if you sweep the floors or wash the cars or file paperwork in the office. In this industry, you have the ability to advance as far as you want to. There’s no barrier to entry, and there’s no glass ceiling. Your raise becomes effective when you do. There are thousands of success stories out there. Like the kid who started as a driver delivering parts at age 19 and now he’s the service director.

Or the guy who started out selling motorcycles and is now the general manager of a huge Toyota store. How about the waiter at the restaurant who was invited to sell cars and is now a partner in several dealerships? Or the 16-year-old girl who had to leave high school and get a job because she got pregnant? She started out answering phones and running errands for the office, and now she runs the office, making $250,000 a year.

There’s also the gentleman who got into this business as a parts picker. He didn’t have much education, no high school diploma, and today he’s the founder of one of the top dealer groups in the country. There’s the used car salesman who is now a mega-dealer. And finally, there’s the newly-single mother of two who was hired for the Internet department and is now the F&I director. Anything is possible. There are no boundaries. Or me—Damian Boudreaux.

I started out changing oil and washing parts in my friend’s transmission shop part-time in the evenings. I didn’t have any grand ambitions at the time; I was just grateful to have a job so I could pay my rent. Before too long, I became one of the top sellers in the region, and now I train others how to be more successful in sales and in life.

I didn’t expect that. I didn’t plan for that. It happened, though. It happened for two reasons: It happened because I figured out who I was and how I could just be myself all the time. And it happened because I started caring more about people than my paycheck. My mantra for massive success The business of our business is people.

And the key to massive success is being who you are at your best, and then figuring out how to take care of others. Master this, and you will be profitable and proud of your way of life. No matter where you are right now in your life, no matter what your current job is, the key to the future of your dreams lies in mastering who you are at your best, learning how to do your job better than anybody else, and figuring out how to help others.

It sounds simple, right? Be yourself. Do a good job. Serve others. Easy. You got this! So, if it’s really that simple, then what’s the problem? Why are there so many people failing to achieve the success they desire and deserve? Why aren’t you experiencing the massive success you dream of?

“Keep It Simple Selling” is all about shortcuts! Let’s make selling cars easier. . . Let’s make selling trucks faster. . . And for heaven’s sake, let’s make it fun!

Imagine for a moment how it would feel if you could sell cars just by being yourself and finding ways to serve others naturally and easily. How would your life be different if sales opportunities continuously dropped out of the sky and into your lap, with no stress or struggle?Would you like to sell 80 percent of the people you talk to every day?

The automotive business is a gold mine. Not just for a few natural salespeople—for anyone. In this industry, anyone can advance as far as they want. There’s no barrier to entry, and there’s no glass ceiling. Your raise becomes effective when you do.

Damian Boudreaux started out cleaning parts in his friend’s transmission shop. From there, he tried and stumbled and tried again to sell more cars than the month before. It wasn’t until he began to open his eyes and pay attention to the people around him that he understood what it really takes to succeed in the automotive business. The lessons he learned during his journey to becoming a consistently top-selling salesman are humbling and inspiring at the same time.

Editorial Reviews:

“Damian’s unique way of teaching people in the automotive industry is brilliant. His ability to communicate and connect, along with his simple techniques about relationship selling, solving and serving is exactly what people need to be successful and proud of what they do everyday.”
-Bob Mohr, President, Mohr and Associates

Damian Boudreaux is the President and Founder of Auto Training Academy. For over three decades as a top performing sales professional, international trainer, and speaker, he has shared proven strategies that make success in the automotive industry a natural outcome. Editorial Reviews:

Zig Ziglar may be the master motivator, Mark Victor Hansen of Chicken Soup For the Soul, the master storyteller; Anthony Robbins may be the guru of personal development, but Bob Proctor is the master thinker. When it comes to systematizing life, no one else can touch him. He is simply the best.

Bob Proctor collects thoughts like Imelda Marcos used to collect shoes. He strings them together in exquisite arrays; one thought leading logically to the next until a whole method has been constructed. In this volume, You Were Born Rich, Bob Proctor has done it again, this time taking you step by step to the surprising discovery that success is not always reaching out for something that you don’t have but rather only reaching over and rearranging the pieces already there.

I read with fascination as Bob carefully built his case and then found myself instantly applying his conclusions to ongoing projects and relationships. Therein lies the great value of this book. You can instantly apply the conclusions to your own life. It will begin to impact you long before you reach the last chapter.

About The Author:

Bob Proctor,  in 1961, started studying “Think and Grow Rich” and it transformed his life in addition to studying the book. Bob listened to Earl Nightingale’s condensed recording of the book thousands of time.

He is a towering figure wherever the mention of self-help comes into discussion. In 1973, he founded his company and has been celebrated ever since. Being an entrepreneur, a teacher, a writer, a business consultant, and counselor, the man is famous for his motivational speeches on how to be a better version of you.

He has been on his mission to advise people to strategize their ideas in such a way that they would be able to create extravagantly glamorous and fulfilling lives for themselves for more than 40 years now. Reading classic books by people like Earl Nightingale, Wallace D. Wattles and Napoleon Hill has inspired him to have developed firm ideas and concepts about how one should live life in order to be fully prosperous in whatever it is that he wishes to accomplishes, and more importantly, as Proctor himself places, to live a luxurious life.

Then, Bob worked shoulder-to-shoulder with Earl Nightingale at Nightingale-Conant from 1968 to 1973, before leaving to start his own personal development company. Today, Bob has studied thousands of books, continues to read “Think and Grow Rich” every day, and is considered the world’s foremost expert on the human mind.

Bob instilled his concept of how elitism lies within us all and is waiting to be found in his bestselling book You Were Born Rich and has gained much following worldwide with his other works including Mission in Commission, The Goal Achiever, The Winner’s Image, The Recruiting Puzzle, The Success Puzzle, The Success Series and Being the Very Best.

He also worked with Michael Beckwith and Jack Canfield, authors of The Secret and Chicken Soup for the Soul respectively in order to create a course based on the Science of Getting Rich program. In his eminent interview with Larry King, Bob Proctor explained the ideas of self-development in his perspective, bringing into light his explanation on how one should be on the quest to recognize his best self and to polish that version and take it with him on the road to success.

He also talked about how creativity and imagination plays a significant impact in becoming happy and achieving incredible results in all facets of life.

-The Promised Land

No more shall I look to the far skies for my Father’s loving aid; Since here upon earth His treasure lies, and here is His kingdom laid. No more through the mist of things unknown I’ll search for the Promised Land; For time is the footstool of His throne, and I am within His hand. The wealth that is more than finest gold is here, if I shall but ask; And wisdom unguessed and power untole are here for every task. The gates of heaven are before my eyes; Their key is within my hand; No more shall I look to the far skies; For here is the Promised Land.
Alva Romanes

LET GO AND LET GOD Something wonderful is happening.

How many times have you been faced with what appeared to be an insurmountable problem and you silently wished you could “turn it over” to somebody else for a solution. Or have you ever sat daydreaming—building magnificent images on the screen of your mind—wishing you had a certain sum of money, wanting to take a trip to some exotic place, or possibly hoping to be able to purchase the automobile you have always wanted?

Wouldn’t it be fantastic if there was some “magic formula” that would give us the things we want and permit us to live the way we choose? Well, there is, and it has been around since time began. Therefore, you can have the things you want—all of them—and you will have them if you will only make the ideas in this book a part of your way of thinking; a part of your way of life. Make up your mind to read this chapter over and over—100 times if necessary—until you feel deep inside that you really comprehend the idea being expressed. For if you fail to grasp the idea presented to you in this chapter, the rest of the book will be of little value to you.

However, once you do understand this chapter, it will be as if a tremendous light has gone on in your mind—truly illuminating your life— and you will realize you will never again be the same person you once were. No person, thing, or circumstance will intimidate you ever again. Your days of idle-wishing will be brought to a halt. Happiness, health, and prosperity will follow you all the days of your life and you will spend the rest of your years wanting to share your new understanding with everyone and anyone who is willing to take the time to listen and learn.

Be aware, however, that many of the people whom you try to share your new awareness with are simply not ready for it. In fact, nine out of ten people will laugh and tell others you are odd, when you have shared your formula—Let Go And Let God—with them. You must realize this is because the vast majority of people whom you encounter every day, treat God like some cosmic bellboy, who is supposed to run and fetch and then deliver.

These individuals erroneously believe that merely because a person verbalizes certain thoughts in their mind—“God please get me this,” or “God give me that,”— they will receive what they have asked for. But unfortunately, these people do not understand the true nature of prayer and what is even more tragic—they don’t even know, that they don’t know! Potential Is Everywhere Always Understand this—everything you see in this universe, yourself included, is nothing but the expression of infinite power. This power is forever flowing into and through you. Scientists will tell you that everything is energy. I choose to say that everything is Spirit.

For centuries there has been a select group of people who are the real thinkers. These individuals have always known there is a power which permeates, penetrates and fills the interspaces of the cosmos, and that everything you see around you is an expression of that power. The power operates in a very precise manner, which is generally called the law.

In other words, everything comes from one source, and that source power always flows and works to and through the individual—that is you. Stated slightly differently, the image that you have formed can only come to you on the physical plane of life (your results) in one way, and that way is By Law and through Faith. The Mormon religion has a scripture in its Doctrine and Covenants which demonstrates this point extremely well, and although I am not a Mormon myself, I have grown to love these lines:

“There is a law; irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world upon which all blessings are predicated. And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated.”

D & C 130:20-21

The more you study this scripture, the more you will appreciate just how perfect it is. The more you understand its truth, the easier it will be for you to improve the quality of your life.

Clarence Smithison’s Story

A number of years ago, when I was working in Chicago, Illinois, I became close friends with a man by the name of Clarence Smithison. Since Clarence is not a celebrity, by any means, I am sure you have never heard his name before. In fact, he is such a modest, self-effacing person, that if he were to walk into a room crowded with people, you would probably not even notice him.

Nevertheless, there is a certain indefinable spark in Clarence Smithison which makes him one of the most remarkable individuals I have ever had the pleasure to know. In an attempt to identify this elusive quality, I have come up with the following hypothesis: Clarence Smithison incorporates, within his very being, the principle upon which this entire chapter is based— namely, if a person will let go and let God (i.e. have faith that whatever must happen for him to achieve his goal, will indeed occur), all things become possible.

One day I confronted Clarence and asked him to share with me his view of faith and more specifically, his explanation of why he personally seemed to possess such a cornucopia of this important attribute. True to his nature, he explained to me he had not developed a complicated philosophy with respect to the subject.

He said everything he believed about Faith could be summarized in a simple definition, and it was this definition which gave him the strength he needed to endure the trials and tribulations in his own life. “Faith,” he said, “is the ability to see the invisible and believe in the incredible and that is what enables believers to receive what the masses think is impossible.” I have fallen in love with this particular definition and have shared it with countless numbers of people since Clarence first shared it with me.

Using a slightly different vocabulary, I would make the observation: “If you can show me a person who achieves great things, I can show you a person who has great faith in his God-given ability to achieve what he images.” In fact, there is absolutely no question in my mind that faith has always been the miracle worker throughout history. It is the connecting link between God and You, and therefore, it is your most valuable nonphysical possession. In truth, it is the cornerstone to everything you will ever build or achieve during the course of your entire lifetime.

Comparatively few people today realize just how much faith in oneself (that part of oneself which is spiritual, perfect) has to do with achievement, because the great majority of people never seem to conceive of faith as being a genuine creative force. Yet the truth is that not only is Faith a bona fide power, but it is the greatest one we will ever encounter. In fact, I would go so far as to say that whatever you accomplish in your lifetime, will be in direct proportion to the:

1) intensity and
2) persistence of your faith.

-David And Goliath

Consider, for example, the biblical story of David and Goliath, which surely must rank as one of the greatest testaments ever written on the subject of faith. As you will recall, Goliath, the giant of Gath, came into the Israelite camp boasting pompously and taunting the Israelites to select a man to do battle with him.

The Israelites, naturally, were terrified and, not surprisingly, none of them leaped forward to accept the challenge. Sometime later, however, when Goliath returned to reiterate his challenge, David, an Israelite youth, overheard the giant’s obnoxious boasting and he stepped forward to pick up the gauntlet. Finally, after much pleading before his elders for the dubious honor of facing Goliath in battle, the youth was accorded the great “privilege” of going forth to do battle.

The elders insisted, however, that David clothe himself in heavy protective armor. They also gave him a sword with which to smite his powerful adversary. But David said, “I am not used to these things, I cannot fight with these handicaps. These are not my weapons. I have other weapons with which to fight the giant.” So he stripped himself of all his armor and went into battle with no weapon other than a simple slingshot and a few pebbles which he had gathered from the nearby brook.

When the giant leader of the Philistines, protected as he was with armor from head to toe, armed with mighty weapons and preceded by his shield-bearer, saw the unarmed, unprotected Israelite youth approaching, he was infuriated. He said to David, “Come to me and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air and to the beasts of the field.” Young David, however, never one to be intimidated, answered the giant saying, “Thou comest to me with a sword and with a spear, and with a shield, but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel whom thou hast defied.

This day will the Lord deliver thee into my hands.” While the giant Goliath placed his faith in physical objects like armor, swords, and shields, David placed his solely in an unseen God. The result—the young Israelite shepherd defeated his far mightier foe! With nothing, save a single stone from his sling, David struck Goliath, and the giant fell lifeless to the ground. By accepting the principle “Let Go And Let God”, and believing that whatever must happen for you to reach your goal, will happen—like David— you too will successfully conquer the “giant” in your life (i.e. you will witness the physical manifestation of your image, and in the proper time).

You see, the trouble with those of us who fail to achieve what we desire, is not that we lack the ability to do so, but that we lack the faith implicit in the “Let Go And Let God” principle, which dictates whatever is necessary for us to reach our goal will indeed occur. We do not believe we can simply tap into the great spiritual reservoir that lies within us, to make connection with divinity, all-supply, or whatever else you wish to call that power which sustains each one of us.

However, if you fail to make this connection in your own mind, or if you lack the divine selfconfidence born of faith in omnipotence, you will never be what you long to be, or have what you rightly deserve to have. All of your prayers will return to you unanswered; your best efforts will bear no fruit and your negative attitudes will thwart the realization of your goal. A mind “saturated” with fear of failure or images of unwanted results, can no more accomplish, create, or produce anything of value, than a stone can violate the law of gravity by flying upwards in the air.

You must realize the creator does not alter the law of gravity to accommodate a person who walks off the roof of a house. (Even though the person may do it unconsciously or in a drugged state.) Similarly, the creative principle of the law of achievement cannot be violated with impunity. Therefore, you will achieve what you desire, be what you long to be, only when you become obedient to that inexorable law of life. To recapitulate—the first step in the creative process is to relax and see yourself already in possession of the good that you desire. (Build the image.)

The second step is to—Let Go And Let God. In working with Spirit, it helps to focus on the truth that Spirit is in all places at all times. Since this is so, it follows that you possess the godlike ability to tap into positive thoughts anytime you wish and anywhere you choose. Moreover, once you become aware of your kinship with the creative power, that you are in truth a child of spirit, you cannot possibly be anything other than positive, forceful, radiant and self-reliant in your dealings with the world (a conqueror of those forces which would attempt to drag you down or hold you back).

Once this happens, all the forces in the universe will come together to help you reach your goal or the manifestation of your Image. Finally, gaining the understanding that you are made in the image of the creator of the universe— and are a living part of eternal spirit—will ultimately transform the results that you are achieving in your life, every day.

Another thing you should know about Spirit is that it is a power which is forever flowing into and through you (we also call this power “thought”). But as Spirit or thought flows into you, you choose the image you will then form with it. Experiment for yourself—sit back, relax and then become fully aware of this great creative capacity. You can actually form one image or picture, after another, on the screen of your mind (images of things which already exist physically, like your car, your home, your place of business, or images of things that do not yet exist— such as your short-term and long-term goals).

But the point I want to impress upon you now is that although Spirit is the very essence of your being, it will never move into the form or into an image, without your assistance. So those people who sit back and do nothing, saying, “God will look after me,” are just fooling themselves. For since it is true that God helps only those who first help themselves, it follows that you must always do your part to start the creative process in motion.

You must always build the image and know in your heart the image will materialize. You must come to look upon God as being a great unseen provider who inhabits every fiber of your being and you must also understand that the instant you form the image in your mind, God will go to work in God’s Perfect Way and move you into an entirely new vibration (i.e. you will begin to feel differently). So always remember, the new feeling coming over you is really God at work and although you may sometimes express your elation by saying you feel enthusiastic, remember that the word Enthusiasm is just a derivation from the early Greek— “en theos”—meaning in God.

-THE RAZOR’S EDGE

You are only one inch … one step …
one idea … away from turning onto the
boulevard of beauty in your own life.

It has often been said the line which separates winning from losing is as fine as a razor’s edge— and it is. (I am talking about winning in a big way and in all areas of your life.) W. Somerset Maugham wrote an entire book entitled The Razor’s Edge, and Daryl F. Zanuck spent four million dollars producing a movie which had the same title.

Both of these great men—author and movie maker alike—knew there wasn’t a big difference among people; there was only a big difference in the things they accomplished. (That was the theme of the movie as well as the book.) One person “just about” starts a project, the other person starts it. One individual “almost” completes a task, the other does complete it.

One person sees an opportunity, the other acts on it. One student “nearly” passes the exam, the other does pass it—and although the difference in their marks may be only one percentage point out of a hundred, it’s that one point that makes all the difference. The annals of sport’s history are rich with dramatic illustrations of the Razor’s Edge concept.

For example, at the 1976 Olympic games in Montreal, Canada, there were eight finalists competing in the one-hundred-meter dash, but the runner who won the Olympic gold medal was only one-tenth of a second faster than the runner who finished in the last place. In 1947, ARMED —the first racehorse in the history of United States’ racing to win over one million dollars in prize money over the duration of his career—had earnings of $761,500.

But the horse which finished second in earnings that same year—a horse which often lost races a mile long by only “a nose”—won only $75,000. Now, if one were to look at their winnings alone, it would appear that ARMED was thirteen times better than his closest competitor. However, when you compare “the times” that were actually registered by those two horses in their races, you discover he really wasn’t even four percent superior! Now, you may have grown up with the idea that some people have it and some people don’t.

Or, because some people are much better than others, they enjoy much more of the abundance of life. But I want you to understand, right here and now, this idea is absolutely false! For you are every bit as good, or as powerful, as anyone you see, know, or even hear about. Remember, since the difference between them and you is only in the area of accomplishments, and since there is something you can do that will vastly improve the results you are achieving presently, you have the potential to become even more successful than they are. You may already know how to do what others are doing (if you don’t, you can learn), and since your potential power is unlimited, you can do even greater things than they are now doing.

The “something” that you must do to become more successful may not be what you think it is. But whatever it may be, rest assured, you are quite capable of doing it. Always bear in mind, however, that because each person’s world is just a little bit different, the something which you must do is not necessarily the same thing the person you live with or work with, must do. Nevertheless, there is no question that you will eventually find out what it is that you must do. So make up your mind— immediately—when you do figure out what that Razor’s Edge is for you, you will do it.

Forgive

“That slight misdeed of yesterday,

why should it mar today?

The thing he said, the thing you did,

have long since passed away;

For yesterday was but a trial; today you will succeed,

And from mistakes of yesterday will come some noble deed.

Forgive yourself for thoughtlessness,

do not condemn the past;

For it is gone with its mistakes; their mem’ry cannot last;

Forget the failures and misdeed, from such experience rise,

Why should you let your head be bowed? Lift up your heart and eyes!”

-THE FORMULA FOR CLEAR COMMUNICATION

Formulas are simply the summation of best practices, and the reason we like them is because they work. We’ve been given great management formulas like Ken Blanchard’s Situational Leadership and formulas we can use in manufacturing like Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing. But what about a formula for communication? Why don’t we have a formula we can use to effectively explain what our company offers the world?

The StoryBrand Framework is that formula. We know it works because some form of this formula has been active for thousands of years to help people tell stories. Talk about a summation of best practices. When it comes to getting people to pay attention, this formula will be your most powerful ally.

Once you know the formulas, you can predict the path most stories will take. I’ve learned these formulas so well that my wife hates going to movies with me because, at some point, she knows I’m going to elbow her and whisper something like, “That guy’s going to die in thirty one minutes.” Story formulas reveal a well- worn path in the human brain and if we want to stay in business, we need to position our products along this path. If you’re going to continue reading this book, I have to warn you, I’m going to ruin movies for you.

I mean, these things really are formulaic. They’re predictable. And they’re predictable for a reason. Storytellers have figured out how to keep an audience’s attention for hours. The good news is these formulas work just as well at growing your business as they do at entertaining an audience.

-THE KEY IS CLARITY

The narrative coming out of a company (and for that matter inside a company) must be clear. In a story, audiences must always know who the hero is, what the hero wants, who the hero has to defeat to get what they want, what tragic thing will happen if the hero doesn’t win, and what wonderful thing will happen if they do.

If an audience can’t answer these basic questions, they’ll check out and the movie will lose millions at the box office. If a screenwriter breaks these rules, they’ll likely never work again. The same is true for the brand you represent. Our customers have questions burning inside them and if we aren’t answering those questions, they’ll move on to another brand.

If we haven’t identified what our customer wants, what problem we are helping them solve, and what life will look like after they engage our products and services, for example, we can forget about thriving in the marketplace. Whether we’re writing a story or attempting to sell products, our message must be clear. Always. In fact, at StoryBrand we have a mantra: If you confuse, you’ll lose.

-BUSINESS HAS AN ENEMY

Business has a fierce, insidious enemy that, if not identified and combated, will contort our company into an unrecognizable mess. The enemy I’m talking about is noise. Noise has killed more ideas, products, and services than taxes, recessions, lawsuits, climbing interest rates, and even inferior product design.

I’m not talking about the noise inside our business; I’m talking about the noise we create as a business. What we often call marketing is really just clutter and confusion sprayed all over our websites, emails, and commercials. And it’s costing us millions. Years ago, a StoryBrand client who attended one of our workshops pushed back. “I don’t think this will work for me,” he said. “My business is too diverse to reduce down to a simple message.” I asked him to explain.

“I have an industrial painting company with three different revenue streams. In one division we powder coat auto parts. In another, we apply sealant to concrete, and in another, we have a sterilized painting process used specifically in hospitals.”

His business was diverse, but nothing so complex that it couldn’t be simplified so more people would hire him. I asked if I could put his website on the giant television screen so the entire workshop could see it. His website was thoughtful, but it didn’t make a great deal of sense from an outside perspective (which is how every customer views your business).

The man had hired a fine- arts painter to create a painting of his building (was he selling a building?) and, at first glance, it looked like the website for an Italian restaurant. The first question I had when I went to the website was, “Do you serve free breadsticks?” There were a thousand links ranging from contact information to FAQs to a timeline of the company’s history. There were even links to the nonprofits the business supported. It was as though he was answering a hundred questions his customers had never asked.

I asked the class to raise their hands if they thought his business would grow if we wiped the website clean and simply featured an image of a guy in a white lab coat painting something next to text that read, “We Paint All Kinds of S#*%,” accompanied by a button in the middle of the page that said, “Get a Quote.”

The entire class raised their hands. Of course his business would grow. Why? Because he’d finally stopped forcing clients to burn calories thinking about his life and business and offered the one thing that would solve his customers’ problems: a painter. What we think we are saying to our customers and what our customers actually hear are two different things. And customers make buying decisions not based on what we say, but what they hear.

How to Sell 100 Cars a Month Book Review

How to Sell 100 Cars a Month by Ali Reda and Damian Boudreaux

About The Book:

Every salesperson looking to succeed beyond their wildest dreams. If you want to succeed beyond the status quo and create an exceptional quality of life for you and your family, then this book is for you.

Does Selling 100 Cars a Month Sound Impossible? I Thought So, Too….Until I did it!

No one can sell 100 cars a month. Can they? Well, yes, they can. And you can, too. All you need are two things. You need to believe it’s possible. And you need to decide you want to do it. Once you have those two pieces of the puzzle firmly in place, your brain will start seeking out ways to make it happen. You’ll start thinking in new ways.

You’ll approach your job differently. You don’t sell cars? That’s okay. It doesn’t matter whether you sell trucks, boats, RVs, motorcycles, or houses. Heck, this even works if you’re selling insurance or appliances. It’s a different approach that blows the doors off the traditional sales techniques. This book is all about getting to the next level.

Whatever that is for you at the moment. You might not get to 100. You might not even care to get to 100. Maybe 45 would rock your world. The number itself doesn’t matter. What matters is continually raising your awareness of what’s possible. And challenging yourself to get to that next milestone. Everything in life is impossible until it’s done . . . Then it’s inevitable.

I have read the PDF version of the book.

Content:
How to Sell 100 Cars a Month by Ali Reda and Damian Boudreaux is in non-fiction business training genre written in late 2016, incorporating biography and autobiography along with storytelling to provide a clear and realistic situation that all automotive salespersons are dealing with, or many of them will quit shortly after dealing with problems.

The author began with a comparison of selling cars with a baseball game to explain the lack of training and also working traditionally for just first UPS, which is a transactional model based on dealer-driven opportunity. He uses some numbers to show you it is impossible to sell 100 cars in a month in this traditional model and introduces a new model of selling which called Relationship model.

Ali believes in Relationship model, since you don’t need to build rapport with new customers, let them know, like, believe and trust you to buy your products. in this model, the author introduces 9 simple and interesting steps that he does every time he talks or meet with customers or just on a daily bases to reach 100. Ali believes a new car salesman or someone who just move to a new town also can reach this number by following his model and focusing on their level, not the number.

This book is well-written, easy to grasp and I believe every salesman in any industries could benefit from it since the relationship model is not Automotive based model but a friendly way of selling.

Did You Know: (Book Articles)

-For Many Sales People, 100 Cars a Month is the 4-Minute Mile

It seems impossible. No one can sell 100 cars a month. Can they? Well, yes, they can. And you can, too. All you need are two things.
1. You need to believe it’s possible.
2. You need to decide you want to do it.

Once you have those two pieces of the puzzle firmly in place, your brain will start seeking out ways to make it happen. You’ll start thinking in new ways. You’ll approach your job differently. And that’s what has to happen. You have to think about your job and the car business as a whole in a different way if you want to reach those higher levels.

-The industry teaches a transactional model based on dealer-driven opportunities (or Ups).

You know the drill, right? You go out on the floor, talk to people who come in the door, call, or inquire over the Internet, and some of them buy a vehicle. If you follow your training, you’ll manage to sell somewhere around 20% of the people you talk to. That means if you swing the bat 60 times, you’re going to sell somewhere between 10 and 14 a month. The only way to increase that number is to wait on more dealer-driven opportunities or increase your closing ratio.

To get to 100 vehicles a month at a 20% closing ratio means you have to wait on 500 people. That’s 25 people per day working 5 days a week so that you can spend time with your family a couple of days a week. You might want to go fishing, attend a ball game, or just get home early enough to watch Wheel-of-Fortune at 6 pm. The point is you need a great quality of life. That’s just not possible the way most people choose to do this business.

When you get really good at this transactional model—you know all the word tracks and closes; you know how to give a great walk-around presentation; you know the business inside and out—you could increase your closing ratio to maybe 35%. That gets you to second base. You’re swinging 60 times, and selling between 18 and 30 cars. And that’s where most salespeople get stuck. They’re frustrated and angry because they can’t seem to make it to the next level. They work harder and harder, and they still can’t get past 2nd base.

Many of them stay stuck between 8 and 16 cars—forever—and jump from dealership to dealership looking for their magic!
They’re waiting for the next Up . . .
Hoping they have good credit . . .
Hoping the manager is in a good mood . . .
Hoping they like the car inventory . . .
Hoping the used car manager gives them enough for the trade . . .

And they’re praying they don’t spend 9 hours serving 2 customers only to wind up with a couple of mini-deals.
Most salespeople live right there. To get to 100 cars on 2nd base, you have to talk to 300 people, which is 15 people a day, and that’s not possible.

-Here’s a Different Timeline.

Instead of thinking about how many years you might have to spend—just think about the levels you need to reach. And focus on your next level. If you currently sell fewer than 20 cars, that’s where you want to focus. Don’t think about 50 or 100. Those levels are too far away, they won’t feel achievable. 20 cars. That’s it. That’s all you have to do. Then once you’ve hit 20, take a little while to enjoy that. Celebrate that achievement. Then set your sights on the next level—40 cars.

In my experience, these are the thresholds or levels you’ll want to focus on:
20 cars a month—if you can sell 1, you can sell 20. That’s believable. You’ll get there.
40 cars a month—if you can sell 20, you can sell 40. Again, believable. You might even know people at that level in your store.
50 cars a month—if you can sell 40, you can sell 50. It’s only 10 more. You can do it.

Do you see how this works? It’s just small boosts up the ladder. If you can sell 50 cars a month, you can do just about anything—including reaching the 100+ level. So, challenge yourself. At 50, you can do 60. At 60, you can do 80. At 80, well 100 is just around the corner.

Nice cover design, good paper, and printing quality.

I recently switched job and received this book from Jason (Finance Advisor) to read and improve my skills, I’d like to thank him for acknowledging my hard work and his generosity.

Content:
Manage Your Career In Sales – Goal Setting For Salespeople 5th edition was written by Joe Verde, The title really helps define the content as it’s written for sales professionals who need to have a Short and long term plan to succeed in the automotive industry. the author began with a message and emphasizing on the importance of goal setting by telling a short story of his experience in 1st 5 years in the car business, and the impact of goal setting in your career, continued by mentioning Zig Ziglar and dedicating the book to this legend who had changed Joe’s life.

This book is non-fiction business resource and training material in which the Author incorporated the autobiography, storytelling (some chapters) and questioning (Collaborating) methods of teaching and writing. It contains 17 chapters, and well written, easy to grasp for people in Automotive sales industry.

The beginning of the book the author’s general manager has written a short biography about Joe Verde, then you’ll read “why to read a book on goal settings?” written by Joe to emphasize more on his story and the impact of it in his success.

The challenge in this book to learn how to use goal setting for consistently and continually improve. He compared the Goal Setting to the closest thing to real magic and calls it the best-kept secret in the world. He proofs his claim with, the continuous success requires 4 things:

• The skills to do the job
• Clear goals with clear action plans
• A burning desire to succeed
• The discipline to follow your plan

The author believes in Goal Setting as the main reason to succeed and covers how a car salesman can grow his business and earn more! He uses a “Tax Refund” report (no details) as a reference to explain what percentage of US people set goals, what percentage have no goals at all and what percentage of them are on the right path and will see their success.

He offers simple steps of starting your Goal Setting such as daydreaming or writing down your wishes which should be realistic, clear and comes with a logical short and long term plans that he teaches his audience as they continue reading. there is a lot of great advice such as common mistakes, keywords, questions to ask yourself, types of goals, the length of the plan, how to manage, shortcuts and more, but sometimes the lack of reference or resource is obvious.

In later chapters, the author introduces some tools to track, manage and improve your skills that have to be bought from or subscribed to his company. This informative and knowledgable book turned into a boring and distracting book which made it look like a commercial material and a manual of computer software as he introduced his CRM and VSA.

  • Page 34
To get from 10 to 20, just make 10 of those 5-minute calls every day and follow the steps and the words exactly that are in our Referral Script.
Also, go to Service each day and meet just 2 people and use our Service Survey Script exactly the way we teach it.

An unrealistic example of motivation or proof of his claim is on page 20 when he mentions,

Do some people literally double or triple their sales or income overnight? and the answer is: Absolutely, we see it happen all the time, to people in our workshops and who are on JVTN®.

Then on page 28, you’ll read a comment from one his trainee that he improved his sales “From 12 to 25 a month 90 days after class!”.

In the end, I’d like to thank Jason, our F&I advisor for acknowledging my hard work and willing to help me grow and see my success, we cannot find Jasons in the automotive industry a lot.

Did You Know: (Book Articles)

– From my background, I have always been able to work longer and harder than most people. Living on a farm is an everyday job; before school, after school, and during summers while everybody else has fun. You have no choice. Vietnam was the same thing. You had no choice – long hard days, one right after the other.

What I learned from Ziglar and the others is that no matter how hard you work, only a very small percentage of people ever make it to the top. 97% miss out on the real success they could have because they lack clear goals. Or as W. Clement Stone would say, they lack a ‘definiteness of purpose’ (aka: no clear goals).

Is it goal setting – or is it magic?

Goal setting is the best-kept secret in the world and it’s the closest thing to real magic there could be. It’s simple, and it’s powerful. You figure out what you want, then write a very detailed plan on how you’ll get it, and then presto – if you just follow your plan, 94% of the time you get whatever it was you wanted.

I honestly never thought about setting a goal until I learned from all of those great leaders in sales, business and success. I only had one goal on the farm – escape. I didn’t set a goal to be promoted when I was in the Army, I just worked hard. And I certainly had no goals my first time in the car business.

-Goal setting is a choice.

The results are indisputable – the people who choose to set clear goals, create plans and follow their plans – achieve higher levels of success and earn more money than those who choose not to.

Goal setting works when you do it right. Because it does, that means you can choose to set goals the right way and be rewarded, or you can choose to go through life without them.

Most people in the world will never realize they have this choice in life. You do though – so choose ‘goal setting’ and accomplish virtually everything you want in sales, income, and in life.

If you’re unsure of the real potential in this business and if you’re not sure it’s worth all of this trouble, order my book, “Earn Over $100,000 Every Year Selling Cars” (the information on how to order is in the back of this book) – or take the course on JVTN®.

-Track all of your lead generation activities.

The secret (and shortcut) to becoming a high achiever is to stop waiting for your dealer to supply you with those tough to close walk-in prospects. Instead, set clear goals to make sure you have people walking in the door asking for you every single day.

☞ All of the people who ask for you will be five times easier to close and will pay 40% more in gross profit (commission).

Why? Because 71% of the people say they buy from people they like and trust. That’s why repeat business and referrals are so much easier to work with (70% closing ratio) compared to that walk-in stranger at just 10%, who doesn’t like you or know you.

Lead generation activities are all of the things you personally do each day to generate more of your own traffic. Count…

  • Your outbound prospecting calls each day to your previous customers, acquaintances, orphan owners in the dealership and Parts & Service customers. Remember the goal – schedule a firm appointment that will show up asking for you. Count…
    • # of calls you make each day
    • # of appointments you set from your outbound calls
    • # of appointments that show up asking for you

Content:
EARN OVER $100,000 SELLING CARS EVERY YEAR 6th Edition, is “non-fiction” book written for Automotive sales professionals by Joe Verde, which contents 16 chapters. the author began with who is this book for? anybody can learn to become a professional in sales, what will be the advantage of reading this book and also the goal and accomplishment in your sales career.

This Book Supposedly is an informative and knowledgeable book for beginners and/or professional Car salesmen who are trying to earn more in this industry, but unfortunately, it’s more like an advertising material for the author. He is running a big training company in automotive and sales industry and in each paragraph, he advertises JVTN®.

EARN OVER $100,000 SELLING CARS EVERY YEAR 6th Edition written in 186 pages, and the “JVTN®” was mentioned at least 112 times, in some chapters the author asks the audience if you want to learn more and improve your skills, you need to subscribe or purchase his online services/videos.

The author provided a lot of “great and helpful” reports about consumer behavior with no reference, which made the reports look fabricated or fake. there is a lot of great advice for newbies and professionals in the car sales industry, but the “JVTN®” made this book boring and trivial.

Did You Know: (Book Articles)

  • How important was the price?
Price was no more important back then than it is now. (It means nothing if you learn to sell). But learning how to drop the price and then learning how to hang in there and grind out a low gross deal was almost all I was ever taught about selling my first five years…• Our ads in the newspaper were always about how cheap we could sell a vehicle, never about the value of owning them.• Our showroom windows had huge banners or painted signs about how cheap all of our products were. My favorite was, “Pile ‘em Deep, Sell ‘em Cheap!”• We also had discounts marked on the windshield in white shoe polish to further remind our prospects that cheap was the most important message about our products and our dealership.

    • In case they missed the paper, didn’t see the banners and the windshield was clean, every vehicle had a red tag special hanging on the rear view mirror to remind them…we are cheap! Price ads are to draw a crowd… As bad as price advertising is, it does bring people into the dealership, so it works. But our managers never taught us how to move away from the price and back to selling value, once we had a customer. So we cheap-sold every vehicle and tried to grind out a low gross deal in those 5-hour negotiation marathons.

  • About 3-5 minutes. And remember, the goal with the unsold prospect is just to get a firm appointment that shows. You aren’t calling to educate them on pricing or product or to try to work a deal over the phone; the only goal is to set an appointment that shows. The worst follow-up call you can make is…
“Hi Bob, this is Joe down at the dealership – have you guys given any more thought to getting a car?”
Stop opening with that question unless you don’t mind hearing, “We decided to hold off a while.”With the VSA®, you have scripts in the system you can read until you master them, and training on JVTN® to continually improve sales. ®

  • Kitchen Table Budgets (KTB)
On Payments: They’re paying $375 now because they put a little extra down last time. But they saw some prices in the paper for as low as $399 on the model they want (they avoided the fine print). But what the heck, why not try for that payment? If it doesn’t work, they figure they could spend $450, and if they had to, they could do $475. And if it really got down to it and they watered down the kid’s milk to save money, they could do $500, but that’s about it.

    • On Down Payments: They saw ads for zero down financing so they figure they’ll try that, too. And if it doesn’t work, they could put $500 down with no problem. If they needed to, they could come up with another $500 – and if they found a car they really liked, they’d be willing to hit the secret stash and put $1,500 down.

On Their Trade: They saw one on the Internet like theirs for $9,000 but Bob figured theirs is much nicer so they’re hoping to get $10,500, but they’d take $9,000 if they had to. Then Bob looked up his car online and he couldn’t believe wholesale was only $7,800 – so they agreed they’d take that if they had to. And if it really got down to it, they want to trade so badly, they’d take $7,642.55, because that’s their payoff until the end of the month.• On Price: On your manufacturer’s site, the fully loaded one they want retails for $34,896. But they saw a local ad in the paper on one for $26,999. Sure, they know it’s an ad car, but they’ll plead insanity on pricing. They’d go $30,000 if they had to, and maybe $32,000 but they don’t want to spend much more than that.

About The Book:

WorkParty How to Create & Cultivate the Career of Your Dreams, First, we leaned in. Now we stand up.

Jaclyn Johnson—the founder and CEO behind Create & Cultivate, the fastest growing online platform and conference for millennial women in business— offers a rallying cry for a new generation of women who are redefining the meaning of work on their own terms:

WorkParty. Women, who want it all and more, and guess what? They can have it.
